Description/
Standard Unique derives from the concept of creating variations within a mass produced context. Using an archetypal Dutch kitchen chair, Maarten Bass has created 5 chair patterns, each of which are made up of 16 components. All 5 patterns share common joining points so that all of the component parts, replicated using CNC technology, can be interchangeable, therefore creating hundreds of thousands of variations from the original patterns. The result is a hand-produced design using mass production methods.
