After completing his studies at Emily Carr University, he established his own studio in 2014. His process is guided by an ongoing dialogue between materiality, contemporary culture, and industrial craft, creating work that seeks a balance of pragmatic function and poetic expression. Working across self-initiated projects and collaborations with industry, he approaches his practice with a rigorous curiosity, allowing projects to emerge through open-ended research and material exploration. Previously, Martell was the founder of the furniture brand Part & Whole, where he served as design director from 2018 to 2024.
